A recent article from VOH Network highlights findings from a PIVI-supported study examining COVID-19 vaccine uptake and influenza immunization programs across 60 low- and middle-income countries. The research found that countries with established influenza vaccination programs were able to launch COVID-19 vaccination efforts more quickly and achieve significantly higher vaccine coverage than countries without such systems in place. The findings underscore a key principle of PIVI’s work: investments in sustainable vaccination infrastructure, trained health workers, surveillance, and delivery systems not only protect against seasonal respiratory diseases but also strengthen countries’ ability to respond to future public health emergencies.
