PIVI’s Work with Tajikistan

Tajikistan is in the early stages of its partnership with PIVI. In 2019 they conducted two workshops to support the successful introduction of seasonal influenza immunization to health workers in Tajikistan. The first workshop provided the skills and tools for Tajikistan to conduct a Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) survey of health workers in Dushanbe. The KAP survey and protocol has been used globally to identify predictors of, and describe barriers to seasonal influenza vaccine uptake among members of the WHO target groups. The second workshop was a Training of the Trainers intended to provide Dushanbe health facility and center focal points with the skills and knowledge of influenza immunization to be champions of the campaign within their workplaces. The KAP will be conducted among healthcare workers in Dushanbe. The goal of the survey is to help healthcare workers and their centers tailor local influenza vaccination strategies to facilitate and/or improve vaccine uptake.
