In Kosovo, influenza vaccines are procured annually by the Kosovo IPH for provision to WHO recommended target groups. Initially, 65,000 doses were procured through UNICEF, and the program has increased by approximately 10,000 doses each year.
To improve uptake across all target groups, the IPH team identified a need for more data around vaccine demand, as well as better data on target group denominators to improve planning, the flow of vaccination data, and coverage estimates.
PIVI-supported activities will help Kosovo to increase its influenza vaccine coverage in high-risk groups and reach its vaccination goals. This includes generating communication materials for vaccination campaigns, training healthcare workers and conducting evaluations such as a knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) survey among pregnant women and healthcare providers.
