Strengthening Evidence-Based Vaccine Policy Through NITAG Training

Healthcare professionals reviewing data and discussing vaccine policy decisions during a training workshop

A new peer-reviewed study highlights how targeted training is helping National Immunization Technical Advisory Groups (NITAGs) strengthen evidence-based vaccine policy decision-making. Drawing on data from workshops across Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean, the paper demonstrates how targeted training can improve NITAG operations, vaccinology knowledge, and the application of the evidence-to-recommendation (EtR) framework. PIVI’s Lisandro Torre contributed to the study’s conceptualization, data curation, and analysis, helping advance global efforts to build sustainable, evidence-informed immunization systems.
