Learn More About Our Other Ongoing Projects:

In addition to working directly with partner countries to support vaccine programs, PIVI’s work also includes projects and collaborations to develop new tools and to create the evidence for the value of vaccination. This work extends PIVI’s value and impact beyond the core partner countries to any country interested in expanding the use of life-course vaccines. Some of these areas of work fall outside of PIVI’s work with partner countries.

Pathogen Genomic Sequencing

PIVI is helping accelerate the adoption of pathogen genomic sequencing—an essential tool for detecting, tracking, and responding to infectious diseases. Through a Gates Foundation–supported funders forum, PIVI aligns global investments, shares insights, and reduces duplication in PGS efforts across low- and middle-income countries. This collaboration strengthens pathogen surveillance, supports vaccine and diagnostic development, and promotes ethical, equitable data-sharing practices—all contributing to a more effective and resilient global disease-monitoring system.

BeSD

The Bevioural and Social Drivers of influenza vaccines (BeSD-IN) framework, developed in support of WHO, allows for a better understanding of drivers of vaccine uptake and demand and provides data to inform national program activities to increase vaccine impact. PIVI supported the creation and pilot testing of the BeSD-IN tool and will support use of the tool in partner countries. This work is part of a broader effort focused on vaccine demand-related activities.

SONAR

The Task Force for Global Health (TFGH), in collaboration with Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, and World Health Organization (WHO) – is working as the implementing partner for The Global Fund’s SONAR (Strengthening Outbreak Notification And Response) program in 14 low- and middle-income countries in Africa and Asia. SONAR aims to improve these countries’ capacity to detect, notify, investigate and respond to emerging outbreaks in a timely manner.

Ready2Respond

Ready2Respond was created to strengthen the world’s readiness to respond to the next pandemic through transformative change in vaccine access and immunization policy, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries.

Vaccinating Healthworkers in Zambia

Building an effective, sustained HCW vaccination platform is an effective public health strategy to reduce preventable disease among healthcare workers, protect patients, prevent absenteeism, and maintain pandemic preparedness by providing a platform from which to introduce new vaccines in response to novel pathogens. To achieve this, PIVI is launching a pilot project with the Ministry of Health of Zambia to vaccinate healthcare workers against influenza and hepatitis B.
