BeSD – IV (Behavioral and Social Drivers for Influenza Vaccine)

The Behavioral and Social Drivers for Influenza Vaccine (BeSD) framework sheds light on what influences healthcare workers’ (HCWs) decisions regarding influenza vaccination. This framework delves into how HCWs’ perceptions of influenza vaccines directly affect whether they choose to get vaccinated themselves and whether they recommend it to others. PIVI collaborated with WHO on a project to develop a tool to understand behavioral and social drivers of influenza vaccine acceptance in health workers, based on previous WHO-developed tools fro COVID-19 vaccines and childhood vaccines. PIVI worked with WHO to develop and field test the influenza BeSD tools in Argentina, Jordan and South Africa, ensuring that the tool was validated in three languages.  This work complements PIVI’s work on surveys to understand knowledge, attitudes and perceptions of influenza vaccines in more than 20 countries for COVID-19 vaccines and influenza in various target groups.  Stay tuned for the upcoming publication by WHO—we’ll share the link once it’s released.
