Part One of our two-part series delves into the important work PIVI is achieving with and through partners in the Middle East and North Africa to build strong, stable vaccination systems.
Regional Collaborations Create Stronger Impact.
Over the years, PIVI has found that regional collaborative efforts are critical for strengthening overall health systems and protecting public health locally and globally. With dense population centers, high urbanization rates, and constant migration flows, the Middle East and North African regions provide fertile ground for disease transmission. Stable vaccination programs across the region can effectively strengthen the response to influenza and other respiratory viruses. Regional partnerships enable sharing of skills and knowledge while optimizing resources for efficient planning and implementation of vaccination campaigns, maximizing vaccination program impact.
PIVI is engaging with Ministries of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) and Country Offices in Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan to help generate and share an understanding of the critical importance of influenza vaccination at both the country and regional levels. Involving key decision-makers helps grow and maintain support and funding for influenza vaccination and creates a platform for discussion regarding vaccination policies impacting individual countries and regions.
Part Two of our series will discuss our partnerships and vaccination efforts in Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan. By exploring new partnerships, and vaccination initiatives, and addressing integration challenges, we aim to highlight actionable strategies for enhancing influenza control efforts in the region. Stay tuned as we continue to explore ways to combat influenza and other respiratory viruses, protecting public health in this part of the world and beyond.
